United Way of Central Oklahoma’s (UWCO) annual Day of Action brought together community volunteers, corporate partners and generous donors to help ensure local students have the tools they need for a successful school year.
Following the drive, donated supplies were distributed to UWCO Partner Agencies that requested items. The Boys & Girls Club of Oklahoma County, Citizens Caring for Children, Latino Community Development Agency, Pivot, The Salvation Army, Urban League of Greater Oklahoma City, Tinker Air Force Base Youth Center and Youth & Family Services will provide the items to children and families they serve across central Oklahoma.
Thanks to the generosity of the community, 9,862 items were collected at an estimated value of $24,364.
A significant contributor to this year’s success was MidFirst Bank, which hosted a dedicated school supply drive in support of Day of Action. The effort spanned 15 corporate offices and banking locations, where employees participated in a friendly competition to encourage donations. MidFirst Bank’s drive generated 5,641 school supply items valued at an estimated $8,942.
“Day of Action demonstrates the power of our community coming together to support local students,” said Rachel C. Holt, UWCO President and CEO. “These donations help ensure children have access to essential school supplies, allowing them to start the school year knowing their community wants them to be prepared and ready to learn. We appreciate MidFirst Bank’s partnership to elevate the impact of this event even further.”
