Join us for a school supply drive to benefit central Oklahoma youth
United Way Central Oklahoma (UWCO) is rallying volunteers to join its Day of Action school supplies drive to create meaningful impact throughout the community between June 1-July 24. This annual event unites neighbors to pitch in and create positive change in Oklahoma City.
Traditionally held on or around June 21, Day of Action invites volunteers of all ages to come together to help improve the community we all call home. Last year, 5,000 items were donated for an estimated value of $16,833.50.
This year, UWCO is collecting the following items:
- Backpacks
- Kid scissors
- Colored pencils/crayons/markers
- Folders
- Glue sticks
- Notebook paper
- Pencils/pencil boxes
- Pink erasers
- Spiral notebooks
“With the big discussions around education in Oklahoma, this is an easy way that you can truly help a student improve their outcomes,” said Rachel C. Holt, UWCO President & CEO. “All students deserve the opportunity to show up to their first day with the supplies they need for a successful year. The community response to this drive has grown year over year and we invite you to be a part of this effort to support all of our kids. We want our kids to know that their community values, supports and encourages their success and dreams. Thank you for joining us.”
To participate, shop our Wish List or bring items to UWCO’s office Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.. School supplies can also be purchased through United Way Partner Agency New View. Each item is carefully assembled by Oklahomans who are blind or have low vision at our partner nonprofit, NewView Oklahoma and then delivered directly to United Way.
